Travertine Mosaic Tiles

When you hear the word MOSAIC it tends to create an image of antiquity, of Turkish bathhouses and Roman courtyards, of the Moorish Alhambra in Spain and the arches in Morocco, of distant eastern mosques and temples, perhaps even a glimpse of an Indian court. And if you visualize all these things from just that word, you wouldn’t be far from wrong. Sadly, in the modern (western) world mosaic is perhaps merely a fancy word for the little squares of stone, ceramic or porcelain that come on sheets ready to install in your bathroom or kitchen.

Apparently the main difference between mosaic and tile is size.

Travertine mosaic tiles are not inherently different from their large tile cousins. Each tiny mosaic has been honed, polished, brushed or tumbled to match perfectly with travertine tiles so you can combine mosaic and tile with ease.

Travertine mosaic is much more expensive than ordinary tile and is considerably more expensive to install. But if you want a truly unique and multi-textured travertine bathroom, travertine shower or a travertine tile design that is uniquely your own, mix and match some travertine mosaic tiles with the travertine flooring or wall tiles.

• Cappuccino travertine mosaics are also suitable for swimming pools, wet rooms, changing rooms, and kitchen spashbacks. There are several sizes with the smallest mosaics on a mesh back.

• Noce travertine mosaic tiles are the same brownish/beige color as the large pieces. The difference being that each piece contains some of the light and dark shades so the effect is a stunning blend of random natural veins and texture making an authentic stone look. This mosaic is perfect for dry or wet areas and works well on walls and on floors.

• Mixed Travertine Mosaic Tiles, which are tumbled tiles in a blend of giallo, cappuccino, and noce travertine, come randomly placed on a mesh ready for installation. These travertine mosaic tiles are colorful yet earthy, and can be further enhanced by a color intensifying sealer if you wish.

• Artistic Light Travertine Mosaic Tiles are creamy color and perfectly match the travertine tile of the same name in the larger format. These mosaics, being so light and classically elegant are easy to work with to create a simple pattern or an antique design motif. They can also be mixed with rounded borders to complete a stylish look – all vanilla and cream!
